To make Live video from the tournament with score boards to YouTube, you must use "SportCam by Rankedin" app. Install app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS). "SportCam by Rankedin" app have a two options: Stream Single Match or Court View. Court View streaming will create one broadcast in which the scoreboard will automatically switch between the next matches planned for the given court. 24 hours before the broadcast, you must activate the Live Streaming option in your YouTube account.

PARTICIPANTS MUST BE REGISTERED WITH BADMINTON MALTA (BM) BEFORE COMMENCEMENT OF THEIR FIRST GAME

This tournament will be played in a “Monrad” format and pairs will be seeded as per their current ranking position.

Men’s main draw will consist of 16 pairs.
• If less than 16 pairs apply, the competition will consist only of the main draw;
• If more than 16 pairs apply, the first 14 ranked pairs, who will be determined according to Badminton Malta’s latest results, will be placed in the main draw. The remaining pairs will play qualifiers and the 2 finalists will qualify for the main draw and join the other 14 pairs;
• The maximum number of applications accepted for the qualifiers is 16 pairs and will be accepted on a first come first served basis.

Women’s main draw will consist of 8 pairs.
• If less than 8 pairs apply, the competition will consist only of the main draw;
• If more than 8 pairs apply, the first 6 ranked pairs, who will be determined according to Badminton Malta’s latest results, will be placed in the main draw. The remaining pairs will play qualifiers and the 2 finalists will qualify for the main draw and join the other 6 pairs;
• The maximum number of applications accepted for the qualifiers is 16 pairs and will be accepted on a first come first served basis.

The main draw will be played on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th September @ Kirkop Sports Complex, and finals on Wednesday 30th September 2020 @ Cottonera Sports Complex.

Applications must be submitted online by BOTH players using their RankedIn profile, by not later than 8pm of Sunday 20th September 2020. Any assistance regarding registration will be provided up to 18:00 of Friday 18th September 2020.


The following Rules apply to this competition:

• Participation fee: €10.00 per player (Participants in a qualifier round of 6 or less pairs will be required to pay only €5. The 2 qualifying pairs will then pay the difference of €5. If no qualification rounds are held, and if a pair is fixtured to play only 1 game throughout the tournament, then this pair will be required to pay only €5 each).

• 2 Victor Queen shuttles, as approved by BM will be provided free of charge to each participant upon settlement of respective participation fee. These will also be available for sale at the venue for the unit price of €1.50 per shuttle.

• Players must be at the venue at least 15 minutes prior to the start of their fixture to check-in with the Referee, and if necessary, settle any tournament fees and set up the courts.

• Each match will be played best of three games to 21 points.

• BM and BWF Rules apply throughout the tournament; disciplinary action will be taken as necessary.

• Participants playing the first matches are responsible to put up the courts & nets and those playing last matches, official or friendlies, will dismantle the court posts and net.

• All participants must be ready for play when called by the Referee.  If not, a walkover will be awarded to the opposing player/s present on court.

• Under no circumstances will postponement of fixtures be allowed, except for cases over which BM has no control (for example, the unavailability of courts, Badminton Malta related commitments, such as International Tournaments or official BM approved courses). In these cases, an official notification must be submitted to BM at least 30 days before the fixture;

• Those players losing their match will be required to umpire the next game.  If no umpire is available, players are to keep the scores themselves.

• Participants are fully responsible for the upkeep of cleanliness at the venue, non-smoking in the sports hall, any damage caused, acts of vandalism etc…

• The pouring of water on the sports hall floor is not allowed; damp cloths can be used instead.


Payment must be made directly to the tournament referee present at the venue on the first day of the tournament. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of their fixture and subsequent disciplinary action might be taken. Late and/or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Tournament fees will not be waived if the application is withdrawn after Sunday 20th September 2020 .

Please be informed that participants may be required to undertake a Doping Test at the venue by the Anti-Doping Unit of the Malta Sports Council. Players who may be undergoing any sort of medical therapy are required to fill in a Therapeutic Use Exemption Form, which may be downloaded from the BM website (www.badmintonmalta.org). Players are always to consult with their doctors prior to taking any medications, and are invariably to inform them they are athletes who may be asked to undertake Doping Tests randomly.
